The Profitec Move 2.0 is a compact dual boiler that reaches brewing temperature in about 7 minutes and, for the first time on a Profitec espresso machine, connects to an app. It is still the Move we know: optimised ring brew group, 0.27L coffee boiler, 0.75L stainless steel steam boiler, espresso and milk steaming at the same time. The change happens under the panels: a new software generation, Bluetooth and Brew-by-Weight technology.
Brew-by-Weight: the shot stops by weight, not just by time. The Move has always brewed by time: set the duration and the machine starts and stops the shot on its own, so your settings repeat every morning. The Move 2.0 adds a second way to control the shot. Paired with a compatible Bluetooth scale, it stops the espresso as soon as your target weight is in the cup. You notice the difference when you change grind size or dose slightly: by time, the amount in the cup shifts; by weight, the machine responds to what actually comes out.
The Make Coffee Yours app. Every setting available on the machine display can also be adjusted from the app, and the whole extraction can be followed and analysed in real time. With a scale connected you get an extra level of control: try different recipes, see the effect of every change in grind size or dose, and fine tune your shots to your taste. On the machine itself the controls stay deliberately familiar: if you already know the Move, you will feel at home straight away.
Compatible scales. Profitec lists as compatible Acaia (all models), Decent Scale, DiFluid Microbalance, Eureka Precisa, Felicita, Goat Story Gina, Hiroia Jimmy, Skale II, Varia AKU (all Bluetooth enabled models with updated firmware), Solo Barista, Ikape and Brewista X.
Everything on the OLED display. The discreet OLED display shows menu settings, machine status and shot time. Dosing buttons are programmable, pre infusion is adjustable, and the coffee boiler and steam boiler temperatures are set independently with PID control. Shot counter, programmable ECO mode, Barista Light, dual gauge and a low noise vibration pump complete the picture. If you only need espresso, switch the steam boiler off and the Move works as a single boiler.
More compact, easier to look after. The Move 2.0 is lower than its predecessor, 355mm tall, with even more balanced proportions. A Make Coffee Yours water filter comes included, together with a water hardness test strip: set your value and the machine reminds you when to replace the cartridge, when to clean and when to descale. The automatic group cleaning programme does the rest. The 2.8L tank has a built in water filter adapter, and a sensor shuts the machine off when the water level is too low.
Modular portafilter. In the box you will find the bottomless portafilter with single and double silicone spouts to fit when you need them, three baskets (7, 14 and 21g), a blind basket for cleaning, a tamper and a cleaning brush.
What we love. Profitec has not reinvented the Move. Brew-by-Weight and the app sit on top of time based brewing instead of replacing it, and if you prefer to work only from the machine, you still can. And the Move 2.0 comes in two colours, black and yellow: the same machine, one understated and one that gets noticed in the kitchen.
